Is It Really Possible to Drop Three Stone in a Week?
The other day, my wife appeared to be in a state of panic when she called me on my cell phone. It caught me off guard to hear that she was in such a panic because she usually doesn’t get too worked up. She must be going through a terrible ordeal; I was almost scared to ask her what was wrong. I was prepared for terrible news; I thought she would tell me the worst. However, once she composed herself, she informed me that the “big crisis” was her need to shed three pounds in three days.
A couple of pounds lost isn’t going to cause me any stress, in my opinion. Three days of losing three pounds didn’t seem like much of a problem to me. However, I must admit that my wife is extremely competitive. She and her best friend have been working out and dieting together, so they have been often comparing their weight loss achievements. Every Friday night, they join forces at the gym to hit the weights. So far, they’d been on par with each other; however, my wife found out from one of the gym trainers that her friend had lost five pounds, while she had lost just two; and there were only three days until their next weigh-in. So, to stay up, my lovely wife had to drop three pounds in three days.
My wife shouldn’t try to force it, I advised her. Unless you have a strategy, I don’t think you can be safe. The thought that she would act recklessly or in an unhealthy way because she was so focused on “I have to lose 3 pounds in 3 days” scared me. The fact that she sought advice from her gym trainer on how to safely ramp up her training routine to burn a few more calories each session made me glad. Under the careful supervision of her fitness expert, she increased her cardiovascular workouts and weight training a bit. After consulting with the PA at her doctor’s office, she made some minor dietary adjustments to aid in her goal of losing three pounds quickly.
Her mission was accomplished, I must admit. Fortunately, my wife lost three pounds in three days without hurting herself, because she followed all the necessary steps. By the way, her companion? Over the course of the week, she shed seven pounds, while my wife lost five. Even though she couldn’t compete pound-for-pound with her friend, she was proud of her accomplishments anyway. I suppose that’s the crux of the situation.
